The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) is home to the Rocket City’s largest higher education institution granting bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees.
The UAH is ranked as a top tier Carnegie R1 university – very high research activity - among doctoral-granting universities. Within in the Carnegie rankings, UAH is among the top public universities in America. It houses 17 research centers and institutes that support the Engineering, Science, Business, and Humanities fields.
Fiscal Year 2022 marks the eleventh year in a row that UAH has five or more top-25 research programs as rated nationally by the Higher Education Research and Development Survey for federal research funding.
Huntsville is the largest city in the state of Alabama, and UAH has a very strong relationship in the national security, space exploration, healthcare, arts, and business sectors, including Redstone Arsenal, NASA Marshall Space Flight Center and the FBI.
More than 70% of UAH alumni reside in Alabama continuing to contribute to the state’s economy.

The Student Right to Know Act was passed by the 2023 Alabama Legislature. This Act commissioned ACHE to create the HORIZON Student Database as an interactive resource for students and parents focusing on costs, degree programs, and student success at Alabama’s colleges and universities.
College Navigator is an online tool designed to help students, parents, and other consumers evaluate colleges and universities. The site includes institutional data on academic programs offered, retention and graduation rates, tuition and fees, financial aid, degrees awarded, campus safety, and accreditation.
Institutional profiles are compiled to provide a comprehensive overview of Alabama’s participating higher education institutions. They play a crucial role in facilitating comparisons between different educational entities and supporting evidence-based decision-making in the field of higher education.
