Trenholm State Community College is one of Alabama’s six Historical Black Community Colleges accepted into the Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF). This marks a historical event, as this is the first time TMCF has accepted community colleges into its membership. Trenholm State students will now have access to more scholarships and professional development opportunities through this prestigious national partnership.

Trenholm State Community College has established a collaborative partnership with Baptist Health to expand educational opportunities by creating an additional pathway for Practical Nursing through the LPN Immediate Impact Program. This partnership will provide additional opportunities to aid in the LPN shortage within the River Region.

Trenholm State Community College recently purchased the Blount Property, located in Executive Park on Eastern Boulevard. This property will be Trenholm State’s 3rd Major Instructional Site. The renovated facility will house all 14 Health Sciences Program and will become Trenholm State’s Healthcare Training Facility.

The White House Initiative on Advancing Educational Equity, Excellence, and Economic Opportunity through Historically Black Colleges and Universities (Initiative) recently announced the selection of two Trenholm State Community College students to participate in the 2023 HBCU Scholar Recognition Program. The HBCU Scholar Recognition Program highlights a diverse group of student leaders with a unique combination of academic achievements, campus leadership, and civic engagement and further empowers them with tools for excellence. Thaddeus Sneed, a CIS major, and Matilda Perryman, a Culinary Arts major, both from Montgomery, Alabama, have been selected to represent Trenholm State Community College. This selection marks a historical event for the College, as this is the first time Trenholm State students have been selected to participate.

Trenholm State Community College opened its Advance Manufacturing Center in January 2023. This center provides training for its River Region Federation for Advanced Manufacturing Education (F.A.M.E.) The River Region FAME Chapter partners and change students with industry while they are enrolled in classes at Trenholm State. The goal is for students to gain valuable employment experience with manufacturing leaders while also completing their associate degree simultaneously.

Trenholm State Community College was recently awarded $2 million from the Connecting Minority Communities Pilot Program through the Department of Commerce’s National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA). This grant will help to strengthen the college’s ability to digitally serve its students and the community. Grant funds received will help the Mercy House/MAP Center to build digital skills and broadband awareness for many individuals who are often underserved as well as to build digital skills and IT workforce capacity in Montgomery.

Trenholm State Community College partnered with The Alabama Power Company and Alabama Rural Electric Association to establish a Line Worker Training Program. The program, housed at Patterson, has trained more than 40 students, with over a 78% career placement rate.
