Academic Common Market
The Academic Common Market (ACM) is a
tuition-savings program of 15 southern states 2023-24 ACM Enrollment
at Alabama Institutions
that allows students to study uncommon
programs not offered in their home state at State Students
in-state tuition rates. During the 2023-24 of Residence Attending
academic year, Alabama residents attending Alabama IHEs
out-of-state institutions through the ACM saved Georgia 60
$800,717 in tuition, with an average savings of
$8,429 per student. The ACM included 2,047 Kentucky 1
degree programs across SREB states, with 167 Louisiana 27
participating institutions and 2,007 students Mississippi 19
approved for tuition savings. In 2023-24, 95
Alabama residents were certified to attend Tennessee 31
out-of-state institutions, while 151 out-of-state Other SREB States 13
students were certified to attend Alabama Total Count 151
institutions.

Doctoral Scholars Program
The SREB State Doctoral Scholars Program (DSP), since 1993, has supported
underrepresented students in earning their Ph.D.s and pursuing academic careers to
diversify college faculties. Scholars receive financial aid and are invited to the Annual
Institute on Teaching and Mentoring, the nation's largest professional development
conference for underrepresented doctoral scholars. The data below represents Ph.D.
scholars who received funding from the state and/or individual institutions.
